We first learned about the Panasonic 30mm 2.8 Macro in November, but also announced is a 42.5mm F1.7 lens. Both will be available in May at $397.

The 30mm Macro features true 1:1 Macro shots and features MEGA OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer).
The 42.5mm is very interesting because it adds yet another portrait lens to the lineup, it’s about a stop slower than the Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2, but a tad faster than the Olympus 45mm F1.8. But the like Nocticron, it features Power OIS and is priced competitively with the Olympus 45mm right at $398. It seems like an easy upgrade, and as I’ve owned my fair share of portrait lenses, this is one I definitely plan to pickup on launch day and compare to the Olympus 45mm.
Personally, I would have loved to have seen this lens at 55-65mm as I think that offers the best compression for headshots. I know we already have the Sigma 60mm/2.8, and while it is one of the sharpest m43 lenses at only $200, it’s a little slow for my taste.
